How it began.
My name is Fiona and I’m the owner, designer and maker behind Jewellery Moves. I have 20 years experience in the Jewellery Industry, a BA from Edinburgh College of Art and an MA from the Royal College of Art, London.
Jewellery Moves began when I was living in Cyprus with my husband and 3 small boys. I’d previously trained and worked as a jeweller and despite moving around A LOT as a military wife, I always made sure that wherever we ended up I had my workbench and tools.
Living by the sea had given me a vision of putting these tools to use by running jewellery workshops on the beach - I mean, who wouldn’t want to do that? And so Jewellery Moves was born!
Most Saturdays you would find me teaching small groups whilst looking out onto the Med and interest grew. I then started to offer people the opportunity to host workshops in their own homes…
Dining room tables were transformed into workbenches and groups of friends gathered for girls’ nights in and coffee mornings with a twist. It was amazing to see what could be created with a basic set of tools and some guidance; high-end silver jewellery that certainly didn’t look like it had been made at a dining room table (even though it had).
These workshops have shown me that after years of making jewellery on my own, I’m now loving making as part of a group and passing my skills on to others. It’s all about gathering together and feeling really satisfied with what you have created - where the experience is as precious the jewellery you’ve made.
My family and I have now moved to Hampshire and Jewellery Moves has, of course, moved with us!
I believe that jewellery should be made anywhere and everywhere so alongside my ‘at home’ workshops (ran out of people’s homes) I offer ‘pop up’ workshops at various locations throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire.
